End Of The Line

"End of the line" the doors slam open
The last words that were ever spoken
Once so happy to see my face
Now all you want is your space
So much of our lives we did share
Now it seems you don't even care
If I had been just a little more wiser
I would have heed the sign
"don't talk to the driver"
In your eyes the daylight is gone
A sure sign I've stayed on to long
From passenger to friend to lover
Now back to square one I discover
Riding carelessly without a thought
So foolishly I missed my stop
I failed to hear you call it out
"End of the line" I hear you shout
Misguided by your warmth and affection
Didn't know I had missed the connection
Enjoyed the ride longer than I should
Would have got off sooner if I could
You should have said when I paid the fare
That this love won't take us anywhere
Now it to late my transfer has expired
Riding in circles with you til I'm tired
$2.25 is far less than the cost
For me to end up confused, hurt and lost
End of the line" you say real soft
Don't worry this is where I get off.
