Lonely Soldier

The rain is pouring down.
Straight and tall is how I stand.
My battle scars still burn,
Blood smeared on my hands.

The battle came and went,
The war fought and won.
There's nothing else to fight for,
What else can I do but run?

The rain slowly stops.
Between life and death there is a thin line.
After everything that's happened,
I don't understand how the sun can still shine.

After all the lives that have been lost,
The sun coming out just doesn't seem right.
The world should just stop turning,
The earth should be engulfed in eternal night.

But the world does not stop turning,
It continues all the same.
The sun shines down on me,
A lonely soldier without a name.
