sitting upon an empty bed
frozen still forever more
always waiting patiently
for the day that he'll come back for her
her pretty face still holds a smile
as she forces herself to believe
that he still wants her; that he still loves her
but she's just too blind to see
the dust collects atop her dress
while her lips still paint a grin
she's frozen still as a porcelian doll
forever waiting for him
waiting for him to take her in his arms
to jumpstart this still photograph;
to wipe away every acid-stained tear;
to make her live and laugh;
but what she doesn't realize
the only thing she's waiting for
is for him to pull her puppet strings
and make her dance like before
five years later she still sits
petrified upon an empty bed
a rusted door slowly opens
as he walks in and kisses her head
her fixed eyes blink once again
as he flashes a smile her way
after years of patiently waiting
this day has finally came
he takes her hand and leads her to the door
but she slowly pulls away
he turns around to see her straight face
and he realizes she's going to stay
he let go of her hand and it fell down between them
she backed away towards the wall
and he shook his head as he turned back around
this was his final call
but she wouldn't give in; she just stared at him
as he walked right through the door
he was gone now; she knew this was it
and she sank down to the floor
she looked down at her dress
covered in dust from the years
and her lips morphed to a genuine smile
as she cried her happy tears
