Behind a mask
With a permanent smile
Lies a girl
Who's been sad for awhile

When she screams
The mask blocks them out
It does not matter
How loud she may shout

When she cries
It will not show
The mask won't let
Any one person know

When she speaks
Nothing is heard
Her opinion is lost
As are her words

But she seems so happy
"What's wrong?" you may ask
She's full of emotions
Behind this fake mask

So next time you see that girl
And you see she is smiling
Know that on the inside
That same girl's slowly dying
