Embers Of Her Face

Now I have discovered
The truth behind my lies
Damned myself for pity
regardless of these futile tries

So much time has been wasted
In pursuit for an unfound dream
All I loved is soon forgotten
Cleasned my soul, made me clean

A trail of endless tears
In time soon washed away
This pain and guilt I claimed my own
The senseless payment for a past day

Seldom now I think of you
Even as the Embers glow dark on your face
Letter and pictures now feed the flames
With a casual smile soon burnt away

Though minutes seemed like hours
And my guilt a grudging weight
Lost are you and memories we've made
As a man is found once again to stay.
