When I was little you were always there for me
Kissing my cuts and scrapes always there to see
Growing older and more wise
Giving me advice on all the guys
I remember when I tried to act like a boy
So I could play with all my daddy’s “toys”
Wishing that I had all the luck
Always wanting you to show me how to work on a truck
None of my wishes had ever came true
Because my daddy always had grown-up work to do
Now you’re traveling in and out of town
On your little girl’s face you’ll see a frown
But your work keeps you away from me
Daddy, come home to stay with your family
I know you’re working to support us
But all you’re doing is creating a fuss
Daddy I love you
And I know that you love me too
What I am afraid of is you not here our memories
On all these cool summer eves
I need a dad here to stay
Not a rent-a-dad who has to go on his way
You’ve missed the most important years in my life
Daddy, your kids miss you and so does your wife
A couple more years and then I’ll be gone
No longer here to see you act like a moron
A couple more years and out on my own I will be
You weren’t here to teach life’s tips to me
The next thing you’ll miss is walking your little girl down the aisle
In your head you can keep the memory and smile
I just wanted to let you know that “Daddy’s Little Girl” I will always be
And you can always count on me
Count on me to be here for you
Because all my life you have been here for me too
The title “Daddy’s Little Girl” I will keep
Knowing that you’re feelings for missing me are always deep
I just wanted to let you know all my life and forever more
Daddy’s Little Girl has surprises in store
I will make you cry through feelings of sadness and madness
But you know that all you can feel is gladness
Gladness for having a daughter like me
The one and only daughter you will ever see
You won’t be here to give me advice when I need it
And punish me when the time is fit
But I know you’re only a call away
No matter how many miles between us will stay
I want you to know that I have always loved you
No matter how many times I never said it back to you
I am Daddy’s Little Girl
And my daddy is my whole wide world
