War's Fatal Outcome

We wandered
Through lost roads of the earth.
No one was around, everybody missing.
But we knew
They drowned
And
Rested at the bottom of the sea.
The clouds descended
Above our heads,
Fog crawling out of our mouths
Like a disease.
Fires burned around
Us,
Warming
Our distorted minds
And
Boring images of death that kindled
In front
Of our scarred eyes. Running incessantly
Around the world of the depressed,
We
Marked out place in the city’s
Raw carnality.
We rummaged the sombre streets
For our people;
However,
They were nowhere to be
Found.
As we kept searching in
These cinematic premises, my significant other
Fell lifelessly
Onto the turning
Tracks. I failed
My many attempts to get his wilted remains,
But the fuming train
Was soon racing
Towards us. I ran, leaving
My loved one behind me to
Die.
For every dropping bomb
I live to hear inside this disillusioned
Soul
Is another second wasted?
In my chance to retrieve you from
Danger. The remorse of abandoning you
Shall bury itself into me
And
Grow forevermore.
In my cancer
Of passion, I shall return
To the defunct remains
Of this overthrown world, only to
Seek
For your corrupt carcass
Hidden between
The murderous train
Tracks
That stole your
Innocent
Soul.
