Writing is my escape
It's always where I turn to
Release the endless emotions
That people put my heart through

Sometimes I'll stay up at night
With paper and pen in hand
Thinking of what to write
Making it as good as I can

I am just someone educated
But you wouldn't even know it
To you I'm a song writer crazily dedicated
But I'm really just a poet

I know this will be frowned upon
By family and friends
Hopefully that will be until
They realize my poems will never end

I feel such a great release
Like letting all my feelings go
Letting me break free of a leash
If only you people could know

Poetry is my art
Why can't you just understand
Pretty soon I'll lend you your own part
Maybe by then you'll understand
