"Are you starting
a novel?"
She asks.
No.
"Why do you consider
this to be a poem?"
She asks.
Because anything
broken
into stanzas
is a poem.
"You write
like you're starting a book,"
she says.
Oh?
"It's epic form,"
I tell her.
"What's an epic?"
She asks me.
"A poem
that tells a story,"
I inform her.
"I thought poems
were supposed to rhyme,"
she says, one eyebrow raised.
Dumbass.
