I want to write a love poem
About how wonderful you are
Paint a picture of your perfection
To show the world
My shining star

But I think if I were to write
About how you truly make me feel
I couldn’t use the word wonderful
If I were to pursue this poem with zeal

Because words like wonderful
Are used far to many times
It’s the same as being convinced
love is like a dove
Just because it rhymes

I guess I need another word
Sweet is also out
It’s used so much; it’s lost its touch
Amazing too, without a doubt

See if I were to write a love poem
It couldn’t be cliché
Or no one would take me seriously
About how much I love you
In everyway

It seems no matter how hard one tries
How eloquently the words are put
When writing about love
The feeling dies
And your message goes kaput

As human beings we feel things
On a level close to insanity
So we write it down hoping to tell the world
How we feel

So much that
It loses its appeal
And we are left with words undone
That mean something to us
But nothing to everyone

So how can I write a love poem
About that feeling deep inside
That tears at me and rips me apart
That I still need to survive

How can I tell the world
How everything around me
Is right
When you’re around
And that I want to do everything at once
When my eyes catch sight of you
How tightly our souls are bound

I want to write a love poem
But words fail to express
This longing, so unreal, just for you
And that’s all that I can stress

So I think I’ll leave the wording to you
It’s not so easy unless you try
But I’ll tell you that my love is true
And is the deepest thing I’ve ever felt
And I’ll feel it till I die

I know this is not always true, but I'm just trying to make a point so
