It all started with words
Words spoken in cruelty and malice
Words like daggers
Aimed at the other's heart
The pain and anger escalating to frightening heights
With the world on edge
Wondering how this can be
Two enlightened individuals
Both of kindness and wisdom
Bickering over something so trivial
As words
One continued
One said good-bye
One tried apologizing
The other might as well have died
For not a word was uttered
Not another word
Nothing more than silence
Reached the other's ear
So it was and shall ever be
For the other who started it all
Was too late to say he was sorry.
