The sun descends
brilliant splashes
of crimson
amber
and purple
I watch
from my tower
unblinking
as it burns
a streak
all the way down
to the ocean's face
a golden tear
My eyes water
dripping slowly
burning always
never ending
never starting
as the sun
dies
lives
births
ages
The sea washes
across me
bleeding my sorrow
and stealing my soul
breaking me down
and leaving me new
I wonder
what will happen
when I close
my eyes
and never open
them again
at all
I wonder
what will happen
when I die
never to wake
never to smile
breathe
or dream
Shadows lurk
about me
and I cannot
see what will
happen
should I
fall
and not
get back up
onto my
feet
Stumble
step
fall
burning bright
returns to me
I am
not afraid
I watch
from my tower
unblinking
as my life burns
a streak
all the way down
to the ocean's face
swallowed
in black
drowned
in eternity
