I look at the faded picture of you aND I,
All these memories flash back and I wonder why.
When we got married you made my life and completed my heart,
Never did I think that we would soon be so far apart.
We still loved each other, but heaven is too far you see,
I can no longer see you, but you are still with me spiritually.
While you went out shopping, I was preparing a surprise for you,
Today was special,our 2nd anniversary,I was doing everything i could do.
I made a big dinner by candle light, and on the table was also box,
Your gift, a necklace with a diamond heart,then after, moonlight walks.
You never did come home that horrible night,
Once i heard the news my heart turned cold and i lost my appetite.
You came out of the store and crossed the bare parking lot,
Around the corner came a speeding,blood red car, you dropped everything you
bought.
You tried to move but you were out of time,
He hit you, and kept on going like everything was fine.
Right down the road he soon crashed,
He lay there, his car twisted and bashed.
You were at the hospital, I got there as soon as i could,
I walked over to the doctor and there we stood.
"This was caused by a drunk driver, I'm afraid her time will soon
be passed,
The other driver was saved" the doctor said ,her life went to fast.
I went in to see her, she said "I love you" with her last breath,
I kissed her and held her hand for one last minute, right until her death.
Why did that drunk driver have to take your life away?
Why did you have to be there at that very place and day?
I sit here holding the heart of the necklace in my hand, a tear rolling down
my face,
Our names engraved on the back, the heart I slowly trace.
I set it back by the faded picture on the stand next to my bed,
About to stand up, I feel you by me, so I stay sitting instead.
You appear to me smiling, sitting right next to me,
"I'll always be with you" you say, as you put you hand on my
knee.
You disappear, I never did see you once more,
I look forward to being with you again, behind heavens door.
