I Remember

I remember seventh grade calligraphy
Making art and wriitng
Meeting the beautiful Tye Dye Teddy bear
I remember our yellow table
Our community lunches and frosting fights
I remember walks in the rain
Soaking ourselves with puddle water
Never caring about the consequences
I'll never forget Shabanu
Laughing and giggling in the commons
Pushing the table back and forth
Instead of doing our work
Do you remember staying up late
Playing "Eagle Red Feathers"
And yelling out obscenities?
Walking to Safeway in the dark, arm in arm
Being silly thirteen year old girls?
Taking shots of Gummi Bears drowned in Sprite and Pixie dust?
Singing "Ain't No Mountain High" at the top of our lungs?
I remember "I love you" and promises of thick and thin
I remember
"No matter what road you choose,
I'll be there, right beside you."
