Midday and snowing, they went out to play
Only to find their dead cat lay
They picked her up and brought her in
This can’t be happening, can I win?
By the heater, we lay her down
It’s all mom’s fault, she was out of town.
We called her name and shook her head
Come back! Come back! You can’t be dead.
Tears of sorrow ran down my face
My heart, my soul, was at full pace.
It’s okay, I told myself
We’re all still here, in good health.
I have my family and my friends
To comfort me to the end.
I have God and all his strength
To get through this, length by length.
He will protect through good and bad
He will comfort me when I am sad.
I raised my eyes to the sky above
Thank you God, It was through love.
