Bite My Lip

I will dutifully bite my lip,
And sit on my pretty little hands,
I will neatly swallow all of my words,
And stop expecting you to understand.

I will gaze at you so innocently,
With this empty adortion in my eye,
But quickly turn my face away,
If even a single tear i should cry.

Quietly i'll answwer all that you ask,
Saying only what you're longing to hear,
But i'll be careful not to burden you with complaints,
For my own, i will not keep my crosses to bear.

And every day i will bite my lip,
To continue expertly playing this part,
I will talk of the weather, and i'll talk of your troubles,
But you'll never know of the pain in my heart.
