Inside Me

Even though you’re gone
I can still feel you here.
I feel you in those simple happy moments
And moments of great fear.

Sometimes I think
I see you in your favorite chair.
But I blink and you’re gone.
You never were really there.

I can hear you laugh
With joy throughout the day.
Like when I sit in the park,
Watching children play.

But when I need you most
Is when I start to cry.
I need to hear your voice
And a reassuring sigh.

When I think back
To all you did leave,
I realize you left a part of yourself
So you’re always inside of me.
