Your Mystery
(dedicated to Solomon)

for years now
we've shared a life
in between stop lights
from the back seat of a cab
I’ve studied you
traced your features
as you tell me your stories
giving me just enough of you
to want more
taking just enough of me
to go unnoticed
you remain a stranger
and somehow
I’m comfortable within your secrets
I let your mystery be

back and forth we ride
exchanging smiles and glances
in the rear view mirror
talking about everything and nothing
we forget ourselves
forget this business arrangement
lost in the magnetic forces
that silently draws us together
almost close enough to embrace
but not close enough
to crawl inside you
somehow I'm
comfortable within your secrets
I let your mystery be

as time passes
I can’t help but ponder
how it would feel to be
embraced with in your arms
so tight that I can hardly breathe
is it wrong to wonder
about the passion of a kiss
what it would feel like for our
lips to touch
and our bodies to melt
if that happened
would you still be a stranger
I sit back and smile
not needing an answer
perfectly at ease
comfortable within your secrets
letting your mystery be
