The Smile

Well I got bored the other day, so I went for a walk.
I'd pass by and give a smile, but the people they would talk.
"What's she doing, smiling sweet, when us she doesn't
know?"
And in response I'd say to them, "Why don't you know a smile
grows?"
"How can a smile grow?" they asked, with confusion there a
plenty.
I said, "You smile, they'll smile back, and now it's twice as
many!"
"Why that's absurd, now that's not true" they said in
all sincerity.
I told them "If they don't smile back, just consider smiling
charity!"
"So are you saying, that lives can change, with such a simple
gesture?"
"Of course!" I said, "what's not to like? A smile gives
simple pleasure."

At first they thought that my idea, had no truth to back it up
But then they put it to the test, and their smiling's proof enough!
These people found out for themselves, that their smile had an effect
That through their smile, more smiled back, the effect they did detect!

So I stand firm to my proposal, that a smile can change lives.
And even if they don't smile back, at least you know you've
tried!
You never know whose day you'll make, by giving them a smile,
It's such a simple task to do, why not go the extra mile?
So walking down the street I went, with nothing on my mind,
Passing people I don't know, still smiling every time.
