When I first saw you,
I thought I was better than you.
I didn’t understand you,
And because of that I made fun of you and your father.
The two of you never liked me,
As I felt the same.
We grew up together,
But we won’t grow old together.
When we were seniors,
We preformed side by side.
In the play your father wrote.
Over the course of time we became friends,
And I fell in love with you.
You told me not to,
But I didn’t listen.
When I told you I loved you,
Your reply was “I told you not to fall in love with me,
You broke the promise.”
I didn’t understand,
I respected you.
Than you told me,
You told me you were dying.
I couldn’t believe it,
For you were only 18.
I couldn’t look you in the eyes.
I started to cry,
As you did.
I was in shock,
Mad, sad, and confused.
I didn’t know what to say to you,
Could I talk about the future…
Our future?
Your only goal in life,
Was to get married.
Would I be the one?
To make you dream come true?
I asked you to marry me,
And you said “yes.”
People tried to talk me out of it,
Your father, my parents.
When we wed,
You father walked you down,
And you had your big crowd.
When we said our vales,
Everyone cried.
You taught me an important lesson.
I miss you dearly, but I know one day,
One day I will see you again, again in heaven.
