My Dear Friend

Ah, my dear friend.
My friend who shows me my wrongs,
My friend who overlooks my rights
And who’s hate just seems so strong.

Do I remind you of little mistakes you made?
Do I taunt you until you want to cry?
Do I leave you when you need me most?
Am I never by your side?

You never seem to see the qualities,
The ones that can get me far.
All you see are my negativities
And my long forgotten scars.

You bring up my past
With a chuckle and a smile
But what you don't know
Is it's hurting me all the while.

You say you trust me,
But you don’t really seem to.
You don’t tell me anything.
In fact, I barely know you.

You don't listen to my side
You don't care what I have to say.
All you want, it seems, is to make me cry.
You want YOUR way.

Maybe one day,
I’ll might speak up to you.
But for now,
This poem will just have to do.
