Unexplainably Strong Love

One hot summer night
Two people in love
Laid across the grass
Looking at the stars above.

The boy sat up for a moment
Then took a good look into the girls eyes
And he kissed her lips
And told her he’d love her until he died.

She sat up next to him
Smiled, and confessed her love for him back
Then held his hand,
They were in love, this is just a fact.

But behind her beautiful eyes
Was a fountain crying tears
And she never told a soul
Although it has went on for years.

Every night before she went to sleep
She’d cry those tears hidden up inside
And make a few cuts upon her skin
To show herself she wanted to die.

One night, she couldn’t bare it anymore
She called up the boy and told him what she had done
He listened and cried with her
Wondering what happened to the girl he loved.

He told her he loved her
With all his heart
And to watch her think like this
Tore him apart.

From that day forward when she felt like dying
She’d think of the boy and think again
And realize people love her
And she isn’t her only friend.

So the boy and the girl
Continued their lives together
Happily living within their hearts
But then one day he received a letter.

In being the time of war
He was forced to pack up his things
And leave the ones he loved behind
And say goodbye to the girl who he loved, by all means.

They sat together and cried for hours
Thinking how saying goodbye will be tough
But he must go and serve for his country
And make his duties be enough.

She promised him when he returns
He’ll receive a warm welcoming
And he promised her back something special
Little did she know it involved a ring.

Eight months later his parents got a call
Telling them their son has died
They couldn’t believe it true
For he had such a short eighteen years of life.

They told the girl and she of course was mortified
All she wanted to do was end her life
Be with him for always
But his parents told her a reason why that wasn’t right.

For under his old bed, they found a little box
And in that box was a ring
For his proposal he would’ve made
If he would’ve made it back home safely.

Again the boy helped her to keep living
And this time without saying one word
She knew he loved her with all his heart
And their love being strong enough, she told him, and he heard.*
