Letting Go

You always had a smiling face
We never saw a frown
You wore your heart out on your sleeve
You wore your kindness like a crown
And even though you were hurting so
You never seemed to cry
But lord I don’t know why
Why God had to take you from us
Why you had to go
Why’d you leave us far behind
For us to miss you as we do so
You loved so many
And disliked so few
You seemed completely flawless
And even though we’ll miss you so
We know your somewhere safer
To spread your kindness everywhere
Like you did with us down here
Please god dear father
Keep Megan safe and close
Love her like we did down here
Take care of her sweet ghost

In loving memory of my dear friend
Megan Nicole Longwell
(Who died of cancer at age 14)
