Restrain me from life, shelter my name.
Don’t let her go out, that’s your game.
Tell her she must not involve herself in wrong.
Insist she doesn’t swear and that she turns off that song.
Her music, it’s horrid- is this really her?
She’s hanging out with druggies, that’s for sure.
No wait, this isn’t true. Step back and see
This is only a distorted image of what you think is me.
I’m not involved in shit you taught me not to do.
I’m just your average girl, trying to please you.
But you refuse to let me learn the lessons of the world.
I’ve not been drunk once; you can rest assured.
I’ve never smoked a joint or even seen real weed.
I’m just a little girl but this isn’t what I need.
I need some space to decide what I truly believe.
I need some different experiences to make me really me.
Until you let me make some choices on my own
I’ll still have the mind of a child, yet I’ll already be full grown.

...It's about my parents and how they're waay too over-protective
& don't let me experience life on my own...
