So many tiny creatures,
Running through the traps of their existence.
A tear falls from my never blinking eye,
As they run in fear from themselves,
They don’t see just how little they mean,
Just how short their days really are.

Oh if only I could reach them,
If only I could tell them just how perilous time can be,
Teach them to live each day, as if it were their last,
For we only have but one short, short life.

But no,
Deaf are these little life forms, to the voice of reason,
Too afraid of reality to rise up higher than the darkness,
To look death in the eye,
And say NO!
I’m not scared!

These tiny pathetic beings shall always be blind,
Never to look beyond this world.
To the future where life leads.
