The Pain of the Passing Days

They say time can mend broken hearts,
So why as I watch the clock,
Do the two halves of mine move further apart?
In time I thought I could forget,
But you’re still with me, the pain is still growing.

Why is it I love you so much?
You treat me like a disease,
Like the many ailments of this Earth,
But no matter how I try,
I just can’t forget our love.

Every night I lay awake,
Looking at my picture of you,
Remembering what has been and gone,
Wishing I was there in that picture,
Next to you.

All the voices, you make so loud, so painful,
My world is not here,
But in your arms,
A memory I cannot bear being any longer,
But I know that is what I shall always be.
