Winter Nights

As the snow starts to fall,
As the light starts to leave,
I open my eyes from the death I have suffered so long.
I stand upon my bare feet,
And place one foot in the snow.
A chill I feel running up my spine,
As I walk through the cold.
No-one around on this winter night,
So calm, so peaceful.
Like I’m the only person,
Ever to walk this Earth.
I look down to my feet,
As they begin to freeze.
I watch the ice travelling up my legs,
Across my body.
I breath deeply one last breath of the icy air,
Before my lips are sealed,
My eyes frozen closed.
Forever I shall remain here,
At peace at last with this world,
With the chill in my spine,
And the darkness surrounding.
Forever I shall belong,
To these silent winter nights.
