So long I have been dead,
As I thought you’d left my side,
Everything I did hurt so much,
Every word I spoke meant nothing.
I loved you so much but you left,
Trusted you with my life,
But you took it with you as you walked away.
You took my soul from my body,
And left it in the darkness,
You just left me on my own.

But you came back,
As I heard your voice, I lifted my head,
Looked up for the first time in so long,
You wiped away my darkened tears,
Restored my smile with but a kiss.
You helped me to my feet,
Promised me once more you’d never leave,
Although I know you will one day,
I’ll hold you in my arms this short time I can,
I’ll treasure this moment for eternity.
