My Unbeating Heart

I wonder what it was like to be happy, to smile.
I’ve been without you for so long,
My heart is disabled,
My ability to love has gone.
Never can our two souls once more be one,
Never will you forgive,
Never will you forget.
Long have I waited for you,
Thinking we had a chance,
But now I see we were just a dream.
No second chance I shall have,
I shall suffer as you wish,
My turn to hurt,
Your turn to watch.
The days I watch pass by without you,
Are the days where my smile lessens and lessens,
My soul has been trapped for so long,
That I fear it has died.
For ever my heart shall remain black and unbeating.
Unless you return to my arms,
Revive my soul and warm my heart,
Remind me what it was like to smile.
