The Empty Pathway (Revised)

Our paths once met,
We walked hand in hand,
Together.
Now you chose a new way,
But it was too narrow,
I could not come along.
One breath changed it all.
Inhale, exhale.....
Now I'm at a stand still.
This temporary happiness
Stole everything I had.
The shreds of my heart, all that I had left,
I gave them to you.
You left them in your empty path....
Your empty path of brokeness,
Those broken promises, however,
Are merely added to the never ending list of obstacles I must fight with
every step.
So I guess it's true,
Love lost makes you stronger.
However to become stronger,
I must recover,
And continue on my own path,
Alone,
Where you have left me.
And I must make it through the rain,
And over these obstacles.
I am left to forge my own path,
Alone.
