I lie awake in bed at night,
Fear inhabits my body.
I sit up,
Pull my legs in tight.
I start to rock,
Back and forth, back and forth.
Scared of what the night brings,
Scared of the night shadows.
I lay back down,
Snuggle closer to you.
You awake,
Asking what is wrong.
My face is a ghostly white,
You hold me tight.
We lay awake at night,
A different kind of fear inhabits your body.
