Getting Over You

Confusion washes over me as I contemplate life.
I think back to all the times filled with misery and strife.
I’m wondering when fate will give me a chance,
Wondering when I’ll see Heaven, even at a glance.
Ignorance and cruelty fill this busy world.
Mixed in with little good in minds of little girls.
I want to change it all just how it ought to be.
I want to make it right so it appeals to me.
But that’s not how it works- you don’t have control
Over aspirations, dreams, or even a simple goal.
If it were up to me, I would take away the pain,
The suffering, the torture, anything inhumane.
Although it upsets me that we live with much regret,
Our life is not over just quite yet.
It’s time to pursue the things I’ve always wished for;
It’s time to shut the first then open a fresh door.
Though it might be tough and frustrating at times,
The world of opportunities is now considered mine.
I have chosen to take a step most never do.
I’m taking many risks and I’m getting over you.
