I walk for a while, and find myself at a river.
I lean on a nearby tree, looking into that running motion.
I think all is well, until I hear something.
I turn, to find you there, staring back at me.
I was a little shocked, so I jump.
You catch my arm looking concerned,
telling me “I didn’t mean to startle you.”
I say its fine, turning my gaze to the river.
You came up beside me, leaning on a tree.
Not a noise was made, only the gush of the water.
You ask a few minutes later, “Why are you here?”
I reply “Its nice to clear my head, what about you?”
“I come here to think, or just to be here” you say.
We continue looking at the river darkness falls.
I say, “I must depart, it’s getting late.”
You say, “I’ll walk you home.”
“Okay, but only to the driveway”, I say with a smile.
You walk beside me, as we travel home.
Its getting cold, you lend me your coat.
We arrive, at my housing land.
I try to give you, back your coat.
You say “Keep it for now,
I have a feeling we will see each other again.”
You walk away, leaving me there.
I stare into the darkness, only to see nothing.
I walk home, thinking its all a dream.
I walk into the house, my mom said:
“Whose coat is that?” I look down.
I look back at her, saying, “I thought it was a dream.”
She looks at me confused, as do I.
