Ode to Poptarts

When I wake up,
I have a sudden craving
for pastries with jelly inside
and icing outside

Poptarts, in other words.

So I grab some from
the fridge
and place them in the toaster
they become warm and gooey

just like I like 'em

I taste the succulent
strawberry jelly
or maybe
a brown sugar and cinnamon mix

Then I lick the icing.

I feel a loss
in my heart
when I devour
the last one

so I beg
and plead
to my mom

for more

My hearts soars with happiness
she said yes!
soon I will be
enjoying again the pastries-

I mean...the poptarts...
