Like a Little Girl

Like a little girl I sat and waited,
For you to come home to me,
I sat and wondered where you were,
But like a little girl I couldn’t see.

I couldn’t see you didn’t love me,
I wouldn’t admit you weren’t to return,
I didn’t know you might as well be dead,
For back then I just didn’t learn.

But now this little girl is all grown up,
And I’m not living like this any more,
You’ve been welcome in my heart for far too long,
It’s time I showed you the door.

This little girl will always love you,
But time doesn’t work in reverse,
For with each day that passes by,
The little girl who loves you so much,
Is getting further and further away.
