Wings To Fly

A girl, stares into a mirror. She remembers flashbacks of the past singing
aloud; dancing with glee. She never cared what anyone thought of her, she
never doubted herself before. She was confident in herself, and believed,
just like a bird, she had the wings to fly. That was then, this is now.
Everyday she would glare into the mirror, as she slowly picked out all the
imperfections. She soon began tearing her old self apart, believing she was
in no way good enough. She always thought, I will never be beautiful, I’ll
never be perfect, I’ll never be special enough. Her confidence everyone had
admired dwindled down to nothing but self hatred and negative thoughts. Those
wings she once had disappeared, and thoughts of soaring were not at all
near. As she remembered her happier days, she softly mumbled,“what has
happened to me?” as she cried herself to sleep.

* After taking a long hard look at herself, the girl is no longer suicidal,
she has so much more confidence, and she is incredibly happy… I would know,
because this girl, is me
