Broken smile,
Empty soul,
Feeling worthless,
Left out in the cold.
Screaming matches,
Fist fights,
Blood being drawn,
Then your out of sight.
Battles being fought,
No war to be won,
Your only daughter,
Wanting to leave and run.
When I am away,
I still feel the pain,
It follows me
All over the place.
Your harsh words
String out through my head,
Sometimes those memories
Make me wish I was dead.
After the time goes by,
After I have been away and cried,
You ask me if I am ok,
Do you think the answer has Changed for today?
And after all these years,
You notice I have no smile,
The laughter that I once had,
And the spirit that has gone bad.
That smile that once brought you
So much joy,
Has disappeared with every war.
And now you take it all back,
Because your only smile
Has been broken
And you are no longer able to see.
