Fast forward into freeze framed screams.
The Room is a battlefield
After the fighting’s done.

Their torn and rag doll bodies
Like dancers paused
In abstract poses.

And the memory of their fear
Remains forever on their faces.
Bloodlust heart still beats
Synchronised to the flutter of the curtain.

And she
Who lived,
Sits and stares
At the boy
Who died
And the girl
Who killed him.

Closer than lovers now
She
Feels her history fade and her future begin,
The cold takes hold
And she takes her final tear onto her finger
Into her mouth and sucks up,
That humanity
That final trace of sadness.

And she smiles.

She is the intake of breath, on a rock singers lips,
The gasp of surprise when you lose your balance
And tumble down the stairs.
She is the slap on the face with uncontrolled anger,
The smash of the waves as they pull you under.
Everything extreme.
Everything she dreamed.

In those seconds between.

Life
And
Death
And then
Alive again
