This Face

The mirror is so true--never does it lie,
It shows all her feelings--her dreams to fly,
She stares in the mirror at the age of ten,
And wonders at age twenty, where will she be then?
She thinks out loud as she stares into space,
"This thing in the mirror cannot be my face"

This face--it has eyes filled with awe; and dreams for a future in politics
or law.
This face--it has ears ready to hear; and a mouth that can say where she'll
be in a year.
This face--has a nose that can already smell; what lies in her future--but
the girl can't tell.

She wonders if she'll e a lawyer or vet,
How should she know who she wants to be yet.
She looks back in the crazy piece of glass,
That somehow knows her present, future, and past.
She's now twenty-one and still doesn't know,
Where she'll be in a year or so.
And she looks at the...

Face--with dreams sparking in her eyes; it shows a girl hoping to fly.
This face--with two open ears; who know her future extremely clear.
This face--with a cute button-like nose; knowing that she will be as
beautiful as a rose.
