The Mirror:
A girl looks into the mirror and what does she see,
A reflection of a face that doesn't want to be,
A face filled with sorrow, a face wanting to flee,
That wants her wings clipped so she can be free.
That face in mirror changed this past year,
It never was sad, never filled with fear,
Never once did you see a dripping tear,
The future was never foggy--always clear.
It's now so different, not the same face,
It wants the past to be completely erased,
The girl feels a feeling that she cannot place,
She stares at the mirror in complete disgrace.
How can she have changed so fast,
Why does she keep re-living her past,
The girl and face are the same--no contrast,
Why did the happy face leave and not last?
For hours and hours, she continues to stare,
The face staring back is filled with despair,
She thinks and thinks and is suddenly aware,
The face in the mirror has been treated unfair.
She's feeling tired and sick, but doesn't care,
Her face set in stone, and a never-ending glare,
The reflection staring back longs to declare,
That it needs help, are people unaware?
The girl looks away, and cannot stop crying,
Why all these years, did she keep on lying,
To herself, to her friends, she kept denying,
She needed the help, to keep her from dying.
She asks the mirror, 'am i too late,
To allow someone to help me stand straight,
Make me realize this face in the mirror can be great,
Accompany and lead me to the right gate?'
The true feeling of the girl--the mirror did portray.
The face did change, after a good number of days,
It helped her see the light, rid her of the gray,
And the girl thanked the mirror for all it did display.
