Deep Velvet

An icy path,
a dark blue sky.
A deep velvet voice,
sarcastic and wry.

”What brings you this way?”
He asks with a grin.
I look back behind
at all of my sin.

”My was has been rough,
the path long and hard.
I journey this road
with a soul that is scarred.”

He looked at me,
and I looked at him.
He gestured me on
to a route that seemed grim.

I trudged along,
head bowed in fright,
wandering alone
on this dark icy night.
