Memories Prevail

Staring out the window
Memories prevail
I try to push them out
No longer want them there

Memories can hurt the most
No matter good or bad
Thinking about them all the time
Will only make you sad

Living in the past
Won’t get you far ahead
I do not need your presence here
No matter what I said

I hope and pray that they leave soon
I really don’t want them there
But some of them will never leave
‘Cause memories prevail
