The Meaning of Life

Escape there is not from the beat of the heart,
For upon this pyre we burn away,
Hearts may be broken but life still remains,
Trying to escape from the flames of the day.

And bodies like hers, silent as the grave,
Nothing but empty hollow souls,
They walk around during the night,
No expression, trying to fill the holes.

So young yet nobody knows as well as her,
How fierce the flames can become,
For her soul tis scarred and never again,
Shall feel the warmth of the sun.

The girl that you see behind all the smiles,
No longer knows the meaning of free,
The tears they are falling whether you see them or not,
For she’s given up hope of finding the key.

So if you’re in search of the meaning of life,
Seek out this child for she knows herself,
And with a tear in her eye she’ll answer you,
“The meaning of life you’ll find in yourself.”
