We run through our lives
Day to day
But what does it really mean
The talk of achievements
Accomplishments and more
Where are we really headed in life?
Because I can only see one end
It looks bleak and fruitless
Either in a jar
Or dirt upon dirt
Either way the ending is the same
What is the point to boast and brag?
About diplomas, graduate degrees and more
When you have never found
Who your truly are
Not influenced by parents and peers alike

Every one says the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree
I can’t measure how inaccurate this saying truly is
What about the suicidal child
With parents as happy as they could be
What about the rebel against all odds
Determined to fight the good fight
With no one at their side
When people find who they truly are
It will not be your mother or father
It will be your own unique personality
With your own likes and dislikes, your own opinions too

When you start to boast and brag
Just think of who you truly are
And where you’ll be in the end
Wonder why you boast
Because the ending is the same
As the man on the street corner
Begging for money
And satisfaction in life
Cannot come from accomplishment
Achievements and more
But only from yourself knowing
You are who you wan to be
So if you asked me today
I would tell you straight and true
If I would rather be dead
Than an achieved person
So, shoot me now I’m willing
