Story of a Boy Forgotten

to serve and protect
the people you see
as long as they look
like you
and not me
the boy forgotten
neglected
unrecognized by you
only courts know he's true
mis guided
mis led
the path unfed
of nourishment
love
a clean cozy bed
wrong move
now he belongs to
you and to me
the boy still unrecognized
by you ~ all you see
is
a number
a statistic
a thorn in your side
a black man forgotten
don't let him outside
chewed up and spit out
the system that threw out
the right to be treated
equally
you cry cause you pay for him to be
locked up
and beat up
another federal tax hike up
we don't shed tears
for his family
just another one
lost to the system
racist
and baseless
could you handle
to taste this
life that's been handed
to those that are branded
as different
not human
no need to defend
the life that you've been waiting
to see put to an end
no chances or sympathy
you hold your ideals high
another boy without a father
...now, why doesn't that make you cry?
