dying flames

A fire that has burned down to gleaming ashes
Vivid colors of red and yellow
Mixed with the grayish-black remains of the wood;
previously consumed by the fires hunger.
When blown upon softly, the flames brighten,
warming those around it.
Another piece of wood is added to the fire,
and once again the fire rises,
beginning to devour the wood until there is nothing more.
Time passes as it slowly dies away.
