One look into her
Wide brown eyes
And suddenly I see.
Her locked away, hidden soul
Is strangely clear to me.
I see the days of heartache
I see her soggy tears
I see memories of boyfriends
Held onto all these years.
I see her heartfelt anger
Toward things she does despise.
I see her darkest fears.
I see them in her eyes.
I see pictures of myself
Letting her down
Leaving for no reason
When I should have hung around.
I see birthday party wishes
I see funerals at dusk
I see poetry and rhythm
I see broken-hearted love.
And by looking deep inside her,
Looking in her eyes
I see a glimpse of her past
I see into her life.
