A Dead Friendship

Don't know how it happened
Ot what it is I said
Don't know why you turned your back
On the friendship that we had
8 years of sleepovers
And exactly how we felt
But you just threw it away
Shoved it under the cushions
Perhaps for another day?
That's too bright of thinking
And now I'm lonesome
Without my best friend at my side
The cold shoulder isn't friendly
So now like a plant we died
And it hurts that you're changing
Into exactly what you think you're supposed to be
Trying to impress them
But don't you see?
That's no friendship
Like the one we had
And if you find yourself empty-handed
That's just too bad
