I told you once,
That you restored my faith
And within your heart I felt safe
All the trust I had lost in man
Restoration was in your hands
Your shoulders seemed so strong
Strong enough to build my world upon
But I should have noticed then
Something missing within
The look of doubt in your eyes
The uneasiness within your disguise
Your face can’t conceal the grimace
Each vein and muscle I can trace
Balancing the pillars that support my heart
Keeping my heaven and earth from falling apart
You promised to never let them fall
Straining beneath the weight of it all
My love was to heavy a burden to carry
I watch as you grow weak and weary
Shifting promises from side to side
Unable to look me in the eyes
Knowing that I will surely see
Your desperate plea to just be free
But within myself I found a strong back
To make up for the strength you lack
