The Night Papa Died

The night that papa died,
The angels sang and momma cried.
The roses in the garden continued to bloom,
The smell of death lingered in the room.
The rain stopped falling from the sky,
It was a silent night, the night papa died.

The stars twinkled like diamonds in the sky,
Hush Momma, please don’t cry.
Those pearly gates are opened now, papa will walk through,
Hush Momma, God will come for you someday too.
Listen to the angels sing,
Can you hear the church bells ring?
Dry those tears from your eyes,
It was a tearful night, the night that papa died.

Now he walks on streets of gold,
Holding hands with loved ones as was foretold.
The ones that he knew before,
Because of Jesus, he’ll know once more.
Because of a miracle we all cried,
Heaven opened up, the night papa died.

While we look up to the blue sky,
Papa is looking into his Father’s eyes.
We are weak, but papa is strong,
We are living, papa has moved to where he belongs.
That night Jesus cried,
That was the night that papa died.

We held his hands until they took him away,
But his love if forever and will always stay.
His fight finally ended and peace did abide,
This was the night that papa died.
